Honu ‘Aumakua

Continuing on my quest to create some saleable art prints for the Art Show in Waikiki… “Honu” is the Hawaiian Word for Turtle and “‘Aumakua” means ancestral guardian spirit. So this ancient Hawaiian warrior has the Honu as his ‘Aumakua.

I don’t know of any Hawaiian myths that talk about warriors being able to invoke the protection of Turtle to shrug off enemy spears, so think of this as my comic-adaptation of the Honu ‘Aumakua. Perhaps someday I’ll create an “Aumakua” comic strip set in a Futuristic Blade-Runner-esque Hawaii Setting. Someday… (gaze off into sunset)

This version is 96 dpi, the actual print size will be at full 8″x10″ at 300 dpi. Made using Clip Studio Paint Pro on a Microsoft Surface 4 Pro.
