Miss Victory

Page 1 of a project I shelved some months back. I figured now is a great time to jump in and work on this project… while continuing two other comic strips and writing a novel.

Miss Victory is a public domain character that I redesigned with a modern costume. This is her fully rendered self as she is filming her first interview/testimonial for The Real Superheroines of Hive County. Here’s her original look:

I still need to put in the word bubbles and also some random stage direction notes, but here’s the transcript from her interview:

NARRATOR: Joan Wayne worked as a stenographer in Washington, DC for the United States congress. After witnessing rampant corruption she donned her mask and became a champion of truth and justice. She is Miss Victory!

MISS VICTORY: Hi, I’m Miss Victory.
When I heard that The Company was putting together a team of all-female superheroes I immediately wanted to be a part of it.
Of course I thought that we were actually forming a superhero team. You know, to protect society and battle villains and whatnot.
I think it was about 3 weeks into the project that I realized that this was for a reality television program.
I was going to back out, but I had a long talk with the producers.
We discussed the need for young women to have strong role models. He also mentioned that some of my co-stars on this show may also need someone with a moral compass to influence them.
I mean there are some petty spoiled brats on this show.
Most of them dress like harlots and behave like hookers.

OFFSTAGE: You know that we’re all standing right here Ameri-b****!
