No Kickman This Week Thanks To COVID-19

Yes, seriously. I’m not sick or anything, however as some of you know I am a digital nomad, traveling the world with my girlfriend in a touring van, stopping along the way to work as professional, international pet-sitters and doing other odd jobs just like David Banner in the Hulk television series.

Truly, it’s like I’ve been on vacation for most of the last 16 months.

Normally I haven’t had any problems finishing strips on time and finding Wi-Fi hotspots to publish from. However, since California decided to re-shutdown the entire state as a drastic precautionary over-reaction to a disease that barely even qualifies as a pandemic anymore by the CDCs standards… I no longer have access to any gyms (for showering, bathrooms, bushing teeth, drinking water). Also, since all restaurants and coffee shops have shut down their indoor dining areas, I no longer have a place to sit down, plug in my trusty Surface Pro 4, and draw. I can draw in the van, of course, which I have done in the past. However, the big problem is finding a source of electricity to keep myself powered up.

Since I will be another week in California until my next pet sit starts in Oakland, we have been resorting to urban campground survival techniques to keep ourselves hygienic. Here are some photos from my current location: Morro Bay, CA.

Here’s me on the pier overlooking Morro Rock.
If I turn in the other direction these are the smokestacks.
Both of the above photos were taken from under this staircase of a business that is currently closed. “Why am I showing you this?” I hear you cry.
Because this place has an unattended, outdoor electrical outlet that I can pilfer electricity from! See the tiny, white LED inside the backpack?
So I can wait here for an hour as the sun goes down to let my Surface charge. Also, the pubic restroom here has a coin-operated hot shower.

Anyway, wish me luck. After my next sit I will be heading north to Oregon and Washington for most of August and September then who knows where.
